James Shields(1-1) thrilled the fans at Kauffman Stadium as he crafted a
no-hit masterpiece against the Vero Beach Bums. The Kansas City Bashers won
by a final score of 3 to 0.
Shields was cheered on with every out from the 7th inning onward. The
adrenaline had to be just pumping through his veins. The atmosphere was
electric out there in Kauffman Stadium tonight! He walked 3 Vero Beach
batters. The tension started to build around the 6th inning. By the 9th
inning the crowd was electrified. Kansas City rapped out 7 hits for the
night.
Jered Weaver(0-1) ended up with the loss. He pitched 7 and 1/3 innings giving
up 7 hits and 2 walks. After the game, Shields was heard to say, 'This is
something I have dreamt about since I was a little boy - to have it come true
is just amazing!'
