Harrison gave the home town fans an evening that they'll never forget. He allowed Halifax just one walk. The tension was mounting with every inning after the 6th. Harrison appeared oblivious himself to the mounting history until two were out in the 9th. Only then, did he allow himself one deep sigh and a slow trip around the mound. Harrison chalked up 14 strikeouts. Vero Beach took care of Halifax with no trouble in the 9th. Chris Narveson(0-1) was hit with the loss. 'Harrison was simply incredible' losing pitcher Narveson said. 'I hate to admit this but I'd pay to watch a man pitch like that'

Paybacks!
After suffering through the first no-hitter pitched against them in franchise history, the Bums just missed one of their own. Javier Vazquez took a no-no into the 8th... and the Bums pounded Aaron Harang with 20 hits and 14 earned runs!

Javier Vazquez took a no-hitter into the 8th inning and B.J. Upton had 6 hits
and 5 RBI as the Vero Beach Bums man-handled the Kansas City Bashers - the
final score was 16 to 0.
Upton had a big day at the plate. He slapped a base-hit in the 1st inning,
doubled plating a run in the 2nd inning, cracked a two-run shot in the 3rd
inning, lined a single bringing in two baserunners in the 4th inning,
delivered a one-base hit in the 8th inning and doubled in the 9th inning.
Vero Beach provided plenty of action in the 2nd inning which saw them score 8
runs on 8 hits. Vero Beach kept the pressure on throughout the contest as
they scored in 6 different innings.
Vazquez(1-0) was credited with the shutout. The right-handed Vazquez lost a
no-hitter when Ian Kinsler singled with nobody out in the 8th inning. Aaron
Harang(0-1) was the loser. He got hit hard, allowing 20 hits and 5 walks in
7 innings.
'They made a couple of mistakes and I took full advantage,' Upton said 'next
time I'm sure they'll pitch me tougher.'

James Shields(1-1) thrilled the fans at Kauffman Stadium as he crafted a
no-hit masterpiece against the Vero Beach Bums. The Kansas City Bashers won
by a final score of 3 to 0.
Shields was cheered on with every out from the 7th inning onward. The
adrenaline had to be just pumping through his veins. The atmosphere was
electric out there in Kauffman Stadium tonight! He walked 3 Vero Beach
batters. The tension started to build around the 6th inning. By the 9th
inning the crowd was electrified. Kansas City rapped out 7 hits for the
night.
Jered Weaver(0-1) ended up with the loss. He pitched 7 and 1/3 innings giving
up 7 hits and 2 walks. After the game, Shields was heard to say, 'This is
something I have dreamt about since I was a little boy - to have it come true
is just amazing!'

First baseman Miguel Cabrera launched 2 homeruns at Miller Park where the
Brighton Bearcats beat the Oahu Glorius Wonders in 12 innings by the score of
4 to 3.
The score was tied at 3 after nine. Brighton came out on top in the 12th
inning. Cabrera smashed a solo-shot out of the park giving Brighton the win
much to the delight of the home town crowd. Oahu had 11 hits in the game
while Brighton had 8, but Brighton had the more timely hits.
Joaquin Benoit(1-0) got the win allowing no runs in 1/3 of an inning. Matt
Lindstrom(0-1) was charged with the loss in relief. He gave up 1 run and 1
hit without retiring a batter.

the losing pitcher in relief.

In a dramatic ending at Yankee Stadium the Colorado Spring Marines won in
their last at-bat beating the Evanston Wildcats by the count of 5 to
3.
Colorado Spring had the game winning rally in the bottom of the 9th inning
scoring 2 runs on 2 hits. Erick Aybar led off and keyed the rally when he
ripped a base-hit. Carlos Ruiz was the next batter, but he struck out.
Howie Kendrick then lifted one out of the park for a two run home run giving
Colorado Spring the win as 47,727 happy fans joyfully celebrated. Both teams
totaled 7 hits on the night.
Al Alburquerque(1-0) allowed no runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory.
Matt Capps(0-1) was tagged with the loss in relief. He pitched 1 and 1/3
innings giving up 2 hits and no walks.

In a game for the baseball purist, Jon Lester(1-0) and Colby Lewis(0-1)
squared off in a tense pitching duel, Brighton Bearcats finally emerged
victorious over Oregon Beavers, 1 to 0.
The winning run, and the only run, was scored by Brighton in the bottom of the
2nd inning. That early run support was enough for Lester and Brighton.
Oregon made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed
runs across.
Lester was helped out by Joakim Soria who recorded his 1st save. 'We lose our
concentration for one pitch, and we lose the game.' Bob Boyd said after the
game. 'Maybe now these guys will listen when I say they have to concentrate
on EVERY pitch.'
