Evanston fans certainly got their money's worth at Turner Field.  Justin
Verlander(20-4) pitched a rare no-hitter as the smoking-hot Vero Beach Bums
toppled the ice-cold Evanston Wildcats 11 to 0.
 
Verlander was just too much for Evanston.  He walked 2 Evanston batters.  The
tension built to a fever pitch.  After the 8th inning everybody in the
ballpark was anticipating what would happen in the 9th.  Verlander chalked up
12 strikeouts.  Vero Beach managed 18 hits in their victory.  
 
Joe Blanton(0-4) took the loss.  He got hammered, allowing 9 hits and 2 walks
in 5 innings.  'Verlander was simply incredible' losing pitcher Blanton said.
'I hate to admit this but I'd pay to watch a man pitch like that'

Right fielder Ryan Ludwick rocketed 2 homeruns and had 8 RBI as the Bowling
Green Bowlers really laid it on the San Antonio Alamos 20 to 4.
 
Ludwick was in a groove all day.  The San Antonio fans hated to see him
approaching the batter's box.  He cracked a two-run shot in the 1st inning,
stroked a base-hit bringing in two baserunners in the 3rd inning and launched
a three-run homer in the 6th inning.  Bowling Green bats were hot in the 2nd
inning when they had 8 runs on 4 hits, the 3rd inning which saw them plate 5
runs on 6 hits and the 6th inning with 5 runs on 3 hits.  San Antonio was
out-hit by Bowling Green, 17 hits to 8.  
 
The victory was credited to Bronson Arroyo(9-11) who went 5 innings, allowing
2 runs. Arroyo got relief help from Brian Duensing who gained credit for his
2nd save.  Derek Lowe(7-8) was hit with the loss.  He couldn't find the
strike zone and allowed 5 walks in 2 innings.

Wandy Rodriguez took a no-hitter into the 6th inning as the streaking
Edgewater Giants defeated the slumping Oregon Beavers 5 to 0 at Great
American Bpk.
 
Rodriguez(8-10) dominated Oregon hitters.  He surrendered only 1 hit and 1
walk in 9 innings seeing his ERA drop from 4.56 to 4.29.  The left-handed
Rodriguez had his no-hit bid broken up by Magglio Ordonez who singled with
one out in the 6th inning.  Edgewater had 9 hits for the night.  
 
Jeff Niemann(8-10) took the loss.  'Rodriguez was the man tonight,' Eddie
Ortiz said.  'He had just about every pitch working.'
