Ted Lilly(2-1) thrilled the fans at Busch Stadium as he crafted a no-hit
masterpiece against the Old Bridge Titans. The Washington Booze Hounds won
by a final score of 3 to 0.
Lilly was obviously at the top of his game as he set the Old Bridge batters
down like so many dominoes. He surrendered no walks and could have tossed a
perfect game if it were not for the fielding error. The tension was mounting
with every inning after the 6th. Lilly appeared oblivious himself to the
mounting history until two were out in the 9th. Only then, did he allow
himself one deep sigh and a slow trip around the mound. Washington rapped
out 11 hits for the night.
Carl Pavano(1-3) was the losing pitcher. After the game, Lilly was heard to
say, 'This is something I have dreamt about since I was a little boy - to
have it come true is just amazing!'
Congrats Joe!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat game I was waiting to see who would throw one first.
